  • Having hosted the Royal Household Bowling Club back in September 2023 we have a unique opportunity to play a return match against them at Windsor as it is by invitation only.

The match will be played on the afternoon of Wednesday 17th September and 39 players/people can be hosted with a meal. We will arrange at least one other bowling match with a local club where we will be enjoying the hospitality of a touring side instead of providing it as we often do.

    Monday 15th to Friday 19th September 2025

This trip will be put together by Liz Rollason.

Please put your name on the sheet posted in the clubhouse to reserve your space.

Accommodation is available at the Landmark Warners Littlecote House at Hungerford in Berkshire with Breakfast and evening meal included.

Littlecote House is a 13th Century Tudor Manor in a 113 acre site and is steeped in history. Littlecote has all the usual Warner activities as well as the benefit of its own outside bowling green. Ideally located for trips to places such as Blenheim Palace & Gardens, Highclere, Marlborough Town, Avebury Village, horse drawn barge trip on the Kennet and Avon Canal and so many more options.

The estimated cost – including a Luxury 53 seater Coach at our disposal for the four night trip will be £495 per person. Signature upgrades at £30pp

  • Fifty four Abbrook Bowling Club members and partners travelled to the Warner Coast Resort in Bembridge Isle of Wight from 7-11 October for an indoor bowling and sightseeing holiday organised by Rob Horrell.

Seven teams from Abbrook entered the bowling competition with two reaching the semi-final.

In a close match, Pete Sore, Margaret Hawkins, Jim Coker and Tony Sandelance lost to Janet Barr, Elaine Coombes, Norrie Wilson and Nigel Coombes, who subsequently lost a close match in the final to a team from Surrey.

While the bowling was in progress, non-bowlers had the opportunity to join a trip to Godshill, take a tour of the Isle of Wight or visit Osborne House.

The week was a great success, enjoyed by all and gave a vote of thanks to Rob for organising the

(Photographs of the trip can be found under the Gallery 2024 page).

  • Hello Short Matters

We are starting short mat on Monday 30th September at 10 15 and each session lasts until about 12 45. We have tea/coffee and biscuits at half time all for the princely sum of £1 which is amazing value.

Short mat is a great way to learn how to build a head and how to play with weight, in addition to developing your drawing game. Laughter and fun available at no extra cost.

Our sessions also run on Thursday mornings and you don't have to commit to every week or every session. Come along when you can and all you need are bowls shoes and your outdoor woods.
